Topsoil, Black Earth/Peat Mixture 

 Our lawn mix is made up of a equal parts of #2 topsoil and black earth/screened peat. 

The balance of sand, silt and clay in the soil is considered a loam soil. Loam soil holds moisture but also drains well when you water the lawn. Mixed with nutrient dense Black Earth, It is able to retain nutrients and allow air flow, making it the most ideal soil for top dressing your lawn.

 Black peat is a type of soil that is rich in organic matter and is often used in gardening and landscaping because it helps to hold moisture and nutrients, which can be beneficial for plants.   This topsoil is a very dense and heavy “sandy loam” product.  Topsoil is perfect for filling holes, leveling the ground or grading foundations. Many people think topsoil is used to “top-dress” a lawn but this is not the case. This topsoil lacks the nutrients needed for gardens or topdressing and its heavy loamy texture makes it difficult for roots to establish. If you have an uneven yard and plan to re-sod your lawn, consider applying topsoil first and coat with lawn mix before laying the sod/grass seed.

Play Sand/Masonry Sand
